SRNT 2023 Nicotine Pouches
Nicotine pouches are small, permeable pouches containing nicotine that may either be derived from tobacco plants or produced synthetically. Although nicotine pouches are available worldwide, little is known as to how various countries regulate these products.
Referencing information collected through IGTC’s Nicotine Pouch Policy Scan, an active policy surveillance initiative conducted to provide information on how (and whether) countries are regulating both tobacco-derived and synthetic nicotine pouches, Tobacco Control published a new paper by IGTC that provides novel insight into nicotine pouch markets and regulatory approaches across 67 countries. Highlights from the work—the first such review to offer comparative information on country-level nicotine pouch policies—were central to a poster presentation at SRNT 2023, delivered by lead author Michelle Duren.
